Contract:  Variable hours, fixed term

Location:  Devon park, based outside of Ottery St Mary              

Reports to:  Education Manager

Responsible for:  This role has no direct reports or line management responsibility

Grade:  6

 

Job Purpose

This role is an integral part of the education team, responsible for providing exceptional standards of catering services for our campers, maintaining spotless kitchen facilities, accurate record keeping, and replenishing supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the yurt village residential centre kitchen and cleaning supplies are fully stocked for each school group visiting
  • Prepare, cook, and serve healthy and fun meals for camps; breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Stocktaking and ordering
  • Be aware of, and work consistently within, health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Daily cleaning of kitchen facilities and equipment
  • Report any damaged or unusable equipment and maintenance issues
  • Providing exceptional customer service and communication when handling enquires and engaging with our schools, groups and park visitors in a professional and helpful manner

The Working Week

Your working week will be varied and busy. Priorities will be the running the residential meal services, which includes cooking breakfast and preparing lunches in the morning and cooking dinner late afternoon for each group.

Your working hours will be flexible but key shifts are 07:00-09:00 for the breakfast/lunch shift and 16:00-20:00 for the dinner shift.

This post is a variable hours position driven by bookings, and shifts are mostly Monday – Friday. The job will involve overtime, including some evening, weekend and bank holiday working as part of your normal duties.

This job involves undertaking duties which include the following health, safety and wellbeing considerations:

  • Regular use of Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
  • Repetitive limb movements
  • Lone working
  • Pressure to meet key deadlines
  • Use of company vehicle

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Confidence to carry out tasks independently, whilst also having the ability to work productively and successfully with a team
  • Previous catering experience; planning, preparing, cooking, and serving food to an excellent standard while working within the constraints of the catering budget and a minimum wastage policy
  • Friendly and polite customer service
  • Capable of working to deadlines in a busy environment
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrate a genuine love of British wildlife and belief in Wildwood’s Mission; to protect, conserve, and rewild British wildlife.

Desirable

  • Technologically proficient
  • Ability to upscale the catering offer for other potential events
