Starting this January, our wildlife and natural history expert, Steve Kirk, will be hosting four weekly 'Winter Wednesday Talk and Tea' events for just £10 per ticket. Each event begins at 1pm and will include a tour, meet an animal session and an engaging talk by Steve on a particular topic, plus tea and scones in our cafe to finish off the day.

In the first of our exclusive 'Winter Wednesdays' talk and tea events, visit the weasel enclosure to meet Smeagol, with Steve Kirk, her mum, and listen to the story of how she came to be here. Then to the café to conclude the tale in the warm with tea and scones.
January 30th - How fares the Harvest Mouse? The story of our smallest rodent
In the second of our exclusive 'Winter Wednesdays' talk and tea events, take a look at Harvest mice with our resident natural history expert, Steve Kirk. Visit behind the scenes in the rodent room and the public display to hear about their special abilities. Finish in the café with more mouse-based conversation, plus tea and delicious scones.

In the third of our exclusive 'Winter Wednesdays' talk and tea events hosted by natural history expert, Steve Kirk, take a tour of the top forest plus a short visit to our wolves to discover our mystical and hunting relationship with the Stone/Ice Age mega-fauna. Return to the café and warmth with tea and scrummy scones, to view some cave art images.
February 13th - Man’s Best Friend to the Devil in Disguise; the wolf’s fall
In the last of our exclusive 'Winter Wednesdays' talk and tea events hosted by natural history expert, Steve Kirk, explore a potted history of human-wolf relations: The rise and fall of the wolf in the human psyche from being our first domesticated animal to becoming the big bad wolf of stories to frighten children, the truth about wolf attacks and the reintroduction of wolves to America and what it takes to make it work. Spend some time with the wolves in front of us and then luxuriate in the café with tea and scones.
