Make Your Own Shield
Medieval shields used by soldiers often showed the coat of arms of the family they were fighting for. Animals often appeared as a part of the coat of arms, as they were thought to represent certain attributes, e.g. wolves signified valour and guardianship. Pick your own animal based on your own attributes and make your a personalised shield out of card to take home.
Learn about how it was to be a medieval knight - the pieces of armour, how they dispatched enemies and the chivalrous code of honour.
Experience weird and wonderful cures from the middle ages, some effective and some lethal.
* All talks take place at the animals' enclosures, apart from the owl talk which takes place at the outdoor flying ground (next to the raven enclosure). Talks, meet an animal and activities may vary, please check the noticeboard on entry to the park for daily details.
